Packing the ice cores on a pallet before the plane lands at Taylor Dome, Antarctica. Large pallets designed to engage the cargo loading and restraint system in ski-equipped LC-130 aircraft are packed with the insulated boxes containing the core tubes. Once assembled, these pallets are dragged out to the skiway to await the imminent arrival of the plane.
